Athens, Greece

I started my tour of Greece off by spending two days in Athens.  I highly recommend spending 1-2 full days in Athens if you are headed out to the Greek islands afterwards.  I think you can see it all in a full day if you wanted.  Here are some of the areas I saw and things I would recommend:

• The Acropolis museum (5 euros) - go here before you go to the Acropolis.  Watch the video upstairs and then make your way through the museum.  You will learn alot about the history of the Acropolis.
• The Acropolis.  Buy this at the main gate below the Parthenon for 12 euros and you will get entrance into all of the areas.  See the Parthenon, ancient Agora (gardens and ruins) as well as various other highlights and temples. 
• Grab some food and do some shopping in the Plaka
• Head towards the temple of Zeus and national gardens.  There is plenty to see on that strip of road.
• Stroll in the areas around Syntagma square
• If you are staying a second day you could do a day trip to Delphi and see the ruins along the ocean
